My Approach to Therapy
Colleen is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in bringing mindfulness-based perspectives in her work with older adolescents and adults to assist with emotional regulation, stress reduction and through life transitions. She attempts to provide a trauma-informed and consent-based space for self-discovery within experiences such as anxiety, depression, and developmental trauma. Colleen’s approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client she works with, however, the space she holds is influenced by training and certification in Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM), Somatic Psychology, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Yoga Therapy.
Colleen prioritizes partnering with clients to explore their hopes and obstacles while emphasizing their strengths and agency. Colleen finds her approach is a good match with folks moving through life transitions such as soon-to-be new parents or new parents or adolescents moving from high school and into the next steps in their life. Colleen also enjoys supporting folks wanting to gain new perspectives and holistic and lifestyle skills to assist in improving stress reduction, anxiety, depression and sleep. Supporting clients in their post-traumatic growth relating to developmental trauma is another area of specialty as well.
Overall, Colleen hopes her clients feel seen, heard and comforted in the therapy space she co-creates with them. It is Colleen’s intent to offer a compassionate listening space to support a client’s self discovery and growth.
“Your openness is more powerful than the feelings you’re opening to.”
