My Approach to Therapy
My private practice perspective is to provide an unconditional positive regard to clients with
respect, empathy, compassion, and open-mindedness. Using a strength-based and client-based
approach, I start with building rapport and prioritizing issues to be addressed. The focus is on a
collaboration to develop and meet goals, and to learn practical strategies while increasing insight
to make meaningful life improvements.

Professional Experience:
Dr. Amestoy has extensive experience in providing clinical services in a variety of settings,
particularly in child welfare agencies. She has held the following professional roles: case manager,
individual therapist, couples/family therapist, group therapist, consultant, and clinical supervisor.

CSULB: MSW degree with a specialty focused on Children, Youth, and Families
CSU: Psy.D. degree with a Doctoral Project on Nutritional Psychology
