My Approach to Therapy

Nakuma Henderson has been counseling, facilitating and advising people through therapy since 2011. Her passion and enthusiasm in serving the mental health needs of all communities have helped guide her life’s work as a healer.

Nakuma utilizes client centered multi model approach when working with clients. She utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach to families in conflict and when counseling individuals. Nakuma specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing stressors related to trauma, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. Additionally, Nakuma works with families to help assist in creating strategies and developing new skills to assist with alleviating communication barriers. Nakuma began her career in mental health working with children and families in the foster care system with extensive trauma-related stressors. Nakuma has extensive training and experience in trauma and PTSD. Nakuma also has experience helping clients through crisis situations, including depression and suicidal ideation.
