My Approach to Therapy
Priscilla Casillas brings years of experience of working with children, adolescents and families who struggle with mental health and substance use issues. She believes that people have the potential to meet their life goals and helps create a treatment plan to meet each individual need. She sees the person as a whole, not a diagnosis. Her goal is to help others rediscover and accept their full authentic self. Together, she works with clients to problem solve, learn coping skills, and practice how to effectively express themselves when met with life’s challenges. Her objective is to work with clients to identify and practice ways to approach stressful situations and develop long lasting habits, some issues may include changes in sleeping or eating, feeling “burnt out,” low motivation, increased isolation, nervousness, easily distracted or unable to focus, hopelessness, and being easily “annoyed.” Priscilla utilizes a humanistic approach and brings in other modalities from cognitive behavioral and family systems to help clients through their exploration. Her areas of interest consist of children and adolescents (8 21 years), anxiety/depression, and family therapy. She is trained in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma informed care.
