My Approach to Therapy
I take a client centered, strength based approach to therapy utilizing components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapies (DBT), harm reduction and mindfulness based work and psychoeducation. I believe in the importance of understanding the effects of thoughts, feelings and behaviors and beginning the process of challenging thought patterns that are hindering day-to-day life. Through a strength based approach, I emphasize the client’s resiliency and ability to cope in order to overcome barriers and obstacles. In working with children, I also utilize components of play and art therapy to increase ability to express and identify thoughts and feelings.
